“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”

B.K.S. Iyengar

Each day has its own rhythm. Its own sensory focus. What you'll carry home with you are the small moments. Lavender on the breeze through an open window, the warmth of coffee in your hands, wild herbs underfoot, ripe tomatoes at the table, the golden glow of evening light on stone.

The Retreat

A sanctuary in the heart
of the Alpilles

Situated among olive groves and lavender fields in the iconic landscape of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, this seven-night retreat invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what really matters. Engage each of your senses daily as you interact with the world through sight, sound, smell, taste and touch and remember that the little things are not so little after all. The smell of a French rose, the taste of a freshly baked croissant, the feeling of the earth underneath your body.

7 nights — All levels — More than just a yoga retreat, you'll live your yoga in every moment.

Photography from Mas Millésime

Set within extensive private grounds on the outskirts of Saint-Rémy, Mas Millésime was built in the 18th century and carries the quiet authority of old Provence: stone walls hewn from local limestone, terracotta-tiled floors worn smooth by centuries of Provençal life, and ceiling beams of ancient oak. Nine bedrooms and three pools are yours to wander between for the week.

The mas sits just a few minutes drive from St. Rémy de Provence, with the Alpilles mountains rising dramatically to the south, providing an incomparable backdrop for your morning practice and a constant reminder of where you are.

The Week

A Sample Daily Itinerary

Each day of the retreat is shaped around the senses: see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. The schedule below is a sample; the final week may shift gently with the season, local availability and the spirit of the group.

Breakfast is included onsite daily. Other meals will also be included, with the exception of 1–2 lunches on your own while we are out exploring. For these lunches, it is up to you! Enjoy a simple quick bite like a sandwich, or decide to sit down for a leisurely multi-course meal. Suggestions will be provided for you and we can help you make reservations if needed.

SaturdayAugust 21

Bienvenue

We will meet you at the Avignon TGV station and whisk you away to your new home for the week. Welcome aperitif, evening gentle yoga before dinner. Dinner will be together onsite at the mas tonight. Yoga nidra session before bed.

SundayAugust 22

See

Wake early for morning yoga and a slow breakfast.

Head out to the village of Les Baux-de-Provence for sightseeing, shopping and a visit to Carrières des Lumières, a former quarry with art-based multimedia shows projecting images of famous paintings set to music.

Included lunch today is a group brunch experience outdoors. Exact location to be decided, but expect beauty at every corner.

Group dinner at the mas tonight, then yoga nidra to end the night.

MondayAugust 23

Hear

Awaken with yoga and another delicious breakfast. Most of today will be at your leisure. Book a massage in the hushed calm of the treatment room, or take a long swim as water and summer sounds surround you. Lunch onsite at the mas.

Should you want to venture off on your own today, rent an e-bike and pedal through the countryside to nearby villages, Roman ruins or local wineries. We can help you to plan an itinerary — or simply relax onsite at the mas and sink into the art of doing nothing. Be back in time for late afternoon yoga with a crystal bowl sound bath. An early evening olive oil tour and tasting onsite led by our hosts at Mas Millésime follows — listen as they share the story of their groves, the rhythm of harvest, and the quiet craft behind every bottle. Dinner together this evening, either at the mas or at a local restaurant.

TuesdayAugust 24

Smell

Yoga in the morning followed by breakfast. Visit a nearby lavender farm for a fragrant, hands-on experience with the region's most famous flower. Breathe deep as we experience the magical properties of lavender and get hands on with this fragrant bloom. Return to the mas for lunch.

After lunch enjoy gentle free time for lounging, massages or a nap. Essential oil infused yin yoga during the evening before heading into St. Rémy for a group meal at a local restaurant.

On Tuesday evenings in the summer, St. Rémy hosts a Creator's Market featuring local arts and crafts and the village shops stay open later as the buzz of activity fills the squares.

After dinner, take time to wander the market and discover your favorite artisan creations before heading home.

WednesdayAugust 25

Taste

Begin the day with morning yoga and breakfast. Visit to Saint-Rémy's iconic Wednesday market. Wander the streets tasting, trying, and exploring. Lunch today is on your own in town. Grab a sandwich made on fresh baguette, sit down at a local restaurant or simply make a meal out of market samples and nibbles. Allow your senses to guide you.

If you choose to sit down and dine at a local restaurant, we recommend making a reservation in advance as market day is quite busy in St. Rémy! A list of restaurant suggestions will be provided for you.

We return home and enjoy a chef guided cooking class as a group. Dinner is the meal we've created together, under the stars.

ThursdayAugust 26

Touch

A day among the Luberon villages, felt through your hands. We begin at Domaine de Fontenille with a vineyard walk between the rows, fingertips brushing vine leaves and sun-warmed grapes. A tasting follows: the cool weight of a glass, the slow warmth of wine on the palate. Then a picnic lunch settled on the grass among the vines, included with the visit.

In Lourmarin, wander the shops with intention: linen between your fingers, pottery glazed smooth, something small chosen and carried home. Then on to Gordes, where limestone is rough underfoot, ancient walls warm from the afternoon sun, and a stone wall or the satisfying heft of a camera steadies you as you take in the view.

Return to the mas for dinner. Hands washed clean, the table set, the quiet pleasure of a meal shared after a day spent reaching out and taking hold.

Please note: this is our ideal proposed itinerary; actual towns and stops may shift based on needs and availability.

Yoga on this day takes a gentler form — a short morning or evening practice woven around our time in the Luberon.

FridayAugust 27

Integrate

Another morning yoga class and leisurely breakfast before all five senses come together in one experience. A private art experience for our group. Take all the beauty you've experienced this week and put it to paper in a way that words could never describe. Lunch together at the mas today, or included group dining experience at a local village restaurant.

Evening yin yoga before pastis and pétanque hour led by our hosts at Mas Millésime followed by a celebratory closing dinner to end the week on a joyful note.

SaturdayAugust 28

Au Revoir

One last practice as light lifts over the Alpilles, a quick hug and promise to meet again. Our week together is complete.

Your room will have its own private, en suite bathroom within the shared building. All rooms are air conditioned and include bath products from Une Olive en Provence.

Photos shown are samples; your exact room is selected upon booking. Room types are the same price as listed regardless of which building they're located in. For example, a king bed single is the same price in the main farmhouse as it is in the Mourvèdre cottage.

Food & Drink

Dietary Considerations

Breakfast is provided daily by our hosts at Mas Millésime, and includes fresh bread & pastries, homemade cakes and jams, yogurt & granola, seasonal fruits, local juices, cheese & charcuterie, organic eggs, coffee, tea and herbal infusions. Lunches and dinners on site will be catered specifically for our group with an experienced local chef, or take place with reservations made in advance at local dining establishments.

If you have specific dietary allergies, needs or requests, please communicate that clearly to Elise upon booking and she will make sure you are accommodated. Dietary requirements must be communicated to Elise at a minimum of one month prior to retreat start. Preferences communicated after this date may not be able to be accommodated.

French cuisine includes a variety of meats and fishes, including raw preparations like tartare or crudo, and offal (organ meats), dairy, eggs, and a plethora of local fruits and vegetables. Please let Elise know about any preference no matter how small. For example, if you eat fish but not raw fish, this is important. If you absolutely despise mushrooms, this is important. If you're a meat eater but you don't like lamb, this is important.

Best efforts will be made to accommodate your preferences, and in most cases we're able to do so. For example, Elise usually hates tomatoes but when in Europe...nothing beats a farm fresh heirloom variety smothered in local olive oil and basil. At any rate, we don't want anyone going hungry so please communicate with us!

If you have a severe dietary allergy that causes anaphylaxis or other extreme illness, please let Elise know.

Regarding alcohol, we will have several experiences that include wine or other alcoholic beverages as an integral part (wine tastings, for example). If you do not drink alcohol, or you are not comfortable around activities centered on alcohol, please let Elise know so that she can make sure you're included in a way that feels right for you. For those who do choose to imbibe, Elise asks that you do so mindfully and with care to preserve a high quality experience for everyone in the group.

There are shared kitchen spaces available. You are welcome to stock the kitchen with any extras you desire during your stay. Please respect that these spaces are shared with other guests on the retreat.

The Setting

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Long cherished by artists, writers, and those who truly know: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is one of the finest villages in all of France. The Wednesday morning market is legendary. Roman ruins stand just outside of town. And everywhere, that extraordinary Provençal light, the light that inspired Van Gogh during his year at the nearby asylum, falls golden and generous on ancient stone.

You are 20 minutes from Avignon, an hour from Aix-en-Provence, and a world away from ordinary life.

Travel

How to Get Here & Transportation

We recommend flying into Paris (CDG) and continuing to Avignon by TGV train, a scenic 3-hour journey through the French countryside. Alternatively, if you are able to fly directly into Marseille (MRS) or don't mind a layover, fly via Marseille for a shorter onward train of under 40 minutes. Either way, we'll be waiting for you at Avignon TGV station to transport you to Mas Millésime.

Once you arrive at Mas Millésime for the week, all of your transportation to and from retreat activities is included. Should you want to explore the area on your own beyond what we have planned, you will need to either rent a car yourself or, if you enjoy cycling, rent an e-bike in order to have freedom to move around. Mas Millésime is not in close walking distance to town. Saint-Rémy is a 10 minute drive or 20 minute bike ride away. Local taxis and Uber are also available should you prefer.

Booking, Cancellation & Refund Policy

A non-refundable $500 deposit is required to book your spot. After your deposit has been paid and your spot has been reserved, any future payments towards your remaining retreat balance will begin in November 2026. This retreat is intentionally curated. This is the only way a deposit can be refunded.

In November of 2026, if the minimum guest count is met, your remaining balance payments will begin. You can choose to pay for your retreat in full or select a payment plan. Custom payment plans are available to fit your needs; simply reach out to Elise to discuss. Please note your payments are due in full one month prior to the retreat date.

Elise Caldarola on a balcony at sunset
Elise in a standing side stretch with arms raised overhead

Elise is a yoga and pilates teacher, herbalist, and New York State certified teacher with almost two decades of teaching experience. She lives in Westchester County, New York, teaches at several local studios, and leads international retreats, teacher trainings, and continuing education for teachers.

In 2018 after teaching in the New York City public schools for a decade, Elise made the difficult decision to leave education and pursue a life more aligned.

She spent her first year away from teaching traveling with her husband and two dogs, and their first stop was Provence, a lifelong dream destination. They spent a month at a rental home not too far from our retreat at Mas Millésime, and to this day the experience remains one of their favorite memories and a moment in time that forever marked a shift.

Elise has returned to Provence several times since this first visit, and each time is taken by its magical light, intentional pace of living, and unique beauty.

Forever a lover of heirloom roses, the smell of lavender, good French butter and a great sun hat, Elise is her best self in Provence and cannot wait to share her love of this beautiful place with you.

Please note that Mas Millésime has a friendly cat, Gigi, and Elise's two small rescue Pomeranians, Juniper and Beau, will be on site as well.

Charline and Ronald, partners and owners of Mas Millésime, live on the property and will be on site to assist us with anything we may need during our stay.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need yoga experience to join?
Not at all. We warmly welcome all levels of yoga experience and all who wish to rest, restore, and be nourished by Provence. Daily group classes are designed for a mixed-level room. For class, you must be able to get up and down from the floor with ease and do basic yoga shapes like downward dog, lunges, table top, etc.
Do I need to be physically fit to attend?
No. This retreat welcomes all levels, and Elise always offers modifications so you can practice in a way that feels right for your body. Group excursions involve gentle walking at an easy pace — over cobblestones, grass, and soft hills through villages, markets, and vineyards. Nothing is strenuous, but a comfortable ability to move on varied terrain is helpful. August in Provence is warm; you are always welcome to rest, pause, or step back whenever you need to care for yourself.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Many guests travel solo. You may book a private king or queen room for yourself, or enquire about a shared room if you would prefer that option. For shared rooms, Elise can help match you with an appropriate roommate when availability allows.
Can I come with a friend, partner, or family member?
Yes. Friends, partners, and family members are welcome to book together. Shared room rates are priced per person for two guests sharing a king, twin, or queen room. If you are traveling as a larger group and interested in booking an entire cottage together, please contact Elise to enquire about availability.
How do I reserve my spot?
Enquire to check availability and room options. A non-refundable $500 deposit secures your place. Remaining balance payments begin in November 2026 once the minimum guest count is met.
I have questions! Can we set up a call?
Of course. Whether you are wondering about rooms, travel, or simply want a clearer sense of the week ahead, Elise would be delighted to speak with you. Please contact Elise by email and she will arrange a time that works for you.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes. Your deposit to reserve your space is $500, and then installment plans are available. The standard payment plan is four payments. If you require fewer or more, please contact Elise to set up a custom plan. Please note: if you choose to pay with a credit card, there is an additional 3% + 30 cents per transaction fee. If you use the payment plan option, this fee will apply each time your card is charged.
How do I get there?
Most guests fly into Marseille or Paris and travel onward to Avignon by train. Transfer from Avignon train station to Mas Millésime is included. Flights and transportation from your arrival airport to Avignon are not included. If you need assistance arranging travel to Avignon from your place of origin, please contact Elise.
How do I get to Mas Millésime from Avignon train station?
A group shuttle from Avignon train station to Mas Millésime is included with your retreat. Guests must arrive at Avignon train station within a designated arrival window to be included in the shuttle. Exact timing will be provided closer to the retreat date.
Do you have recommendations for travel before or after the retreat week? I want to make this an extended vacation.
Yes! Depending on your needs. Please contact Elise and she would love to connect with you about trip planning.
When is check-in?
Check-in is on Saturday, August 21, 2027 at 4:00 p.m., the first day of the retreat. Welcome activities begin that evening at Mas Millésime. Arrival details for the group shuttle from Avignon will be provided closer to the retreat date.
When is check-out?
Check-out is on Saturday, August 28, 2027 at 10:30 a.m.
Do I need adapters for my electronics in France?
Yes. France uses 230V power with Type C and Type E outlets (two round pins). If you are traveling from North America, pack a plug adapter for your chargers and devices. Most phones, laptops, and camera chargers are dual voltage and work with an adapter alone. High-heat tools such as hair dryers or curling irons are often single voltage and may need both an adapter and a voltage converter, so check the label on yours before you pack.
Do I need to speak French?
Non. Most people working in tourism and hospitality in Provence speak English, and French assistance will be available on retreat if needed. Elise speaks enough French to get by and translate a menu, too. It never hurts to learn a few basic phrases — the French value etiquette, and a little politeness goes a long way. Bonjour, bonsoir, merci, madame, and monsieur will carry you far.
What is the weather like in August in Provence?
August is the height of summer in Provence: long sunny days, warm evenings, and very little rain. Daytime temperatures are typically in the low to mid 80s °F (high 20s °C), though hotter afternoons are common. The air is dry and the light is golden well into the evening. Pack breathable layers, a sun hat, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes for walking village streets and vineyard paths. A light wrap is useful for cooler nights or air-conditioned train rides.
What should I pack?
Think comfortable and easy: yoga clothes, breathable daywear, walking shoes, swimwear for the pools, a sun hat, sunglasses, and something a little dressier for group dinners out. A refillable water bottle, light day bag, and any personal toiletries you love are worth bringing along. A plug adapter for France is also a good idea. A more detailed packing list will be provided closer to the retreat date.
Can dietary needs and preferences be accommodated?
Yes. Please communicate allergies, needs, and preferences clearly to Elise upon booking. Dietary requirements must be communicated at a minimum of one month prior to retreat start. Preferences communicated after this date may not be able to be accommodated.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
A $500 deposit is required to book. Deposits are non-refundable unless the retreat does not reach a minimum of 6 guests by November 2026, in which case all deposits are returned in full. After that threshold is met, remaining payments are also non-refundable. Travel insurance with cancellation coverage is strongly recommended.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it. Because deposits and payments are non-refundable once the retreat is confirmed, travel insurance with cancellation coverage helps protect your investment if your plans change. You should also review your personal health insurance before you travel: many domestic plans offer limited or no coverage abroad, so confirm what emergency medical care would be covered in France and consider supplemental travel medical insurance if needed. Here is an organized list from Forbes with travel insurance options. Elise does not provide health or travel insurance for guests, and is not responsible for any additional travel, refunds, or personal costs that you may incur.
What should I know about tips and tipping in France?
Tipping culture in France is more relaxed than in the United States. Restaurant prices typically include service, so a large tip is not expected the way it often is at home. For good service, rounding up the bill or leaving a few euros is a kind gesture; for an exceptional meal, 5–10% is generous. Small tips for drivers, guides, or hotel staff are appreciated but optional. Most meals and activities on retreat are included, and tips are always at your discretion.
Will I have a private bathroom?
Every room includes its own private, en suite bathroom within the shared building. Bath products from Une Olive en Provence are provided.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes. All bedrooms and the yoga studio have air conditioning.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes. Wi-Fi is available at Mas Millésime.
Will I have cell service?
Check with your wireless carrier. Some plans work internationally at no extra cost or for a low fee you can arrange before departure. Otherwise, if your phone supports eSIMs, you can use a service that provides a temporary eSIM while you are abroad so that you will have cell coverage and data. Elise recommends Nomad. More info will be provided closer to departure, and Elise can assist you with this.
Is the daily itinerary fixed?
The sample itinerary on this site is a guide. The final week may shift gently with the season, local availability, and the spirit of the group. Yoga timing on busier days depends on the flow of activities. You also have the option to sit out of any activities you do not wish to attend, but please note that if you do choose to do so, you are responsible for yourself as the group and Elise may be out and unavailable to assist you.
